Conference & Events General Assistant (GA) Team Member
About the Role
The General Assistant Team Member will join a lively and enthusiastic team operating in our busy Conference and Events department serving our event visitors food and drinks and general help with setting up and closing down of events and conferences.
As a hands-on GA Team Member you will ensure that the visitor journey experience is at the forefront of our success, delivering an exceptional Food and Beverage experience during our conferences and events.
About Us
As one of the leading museums and visitor attractions in the South West, with 125,000 visitors annually, you will join a dynamic and engaged team of over 120 staff and volunteers.
Haynes Motor Museum was established in 1985 by John Haynes OBE and is home to the UK’s largest exhibition of cars and motorbikes dating from the present day back to 1898.
The Museum is a registered charity and has three core objectives:
- The Preservation and Conservation of our Collection
- Education which is delivered through multiple channels.
In support of the charity, the Museum also operates a Trading Company which comprises: Haynes Heritage Engineering, Conference and Events, Café 750 & the Museum Shop and Online Retail.
About You
You will have an eye for detail and an understanding of events and how they run. You are a team member with a ‘can do’ attitude and you go above and beyond to surprise and delight the visitors and help create an enjoyable experience.
The GA Team Member will report directly to the Conference and Events Executives.
Responsibilities of the Role
- Serving visitors with food and beverages
- Assisting visitors in a professional, courteous, and friendly manner
- Event set up and close down
- Ensuring all food hygiene and allergen information is accurate. You will be provided with training for the correct processes and procedures.
- Clearing tables and washing up
- Cleaning and replenishing buffets and tables
- Ensuring all areas of the department are tidy at the end of the shift, including sweeping and mopping floors and returning equipment to the correct storage areas.

- Food Hygiene Level 2 (online training provided)

- Good nutritional and allergen knowledge (online training provided)

Hours & Structure
Zero hours contract. This role will include some evening and weekend shifts as well as weekday shifts.
