1959 Austin Healey Sprite Mk1

In motoring there have been mryiad attempts to construct a cheap but interesting sports car, most of which have failed.  This idea of a cheap two seater “that a chap could keep in his bicycle shed”, however, is very well established in British sports car lore.

Based on Austin A35 and Morris Minor parts and a semi monocoque, chassis-less body, the Sprite was cheap to produce and opened up a new market.  On the road at only £690 it stacked up well against the contemporary MGA at £1013 and TR3A at £1065.
