Hear the Stories Behind the Cars at John Haynes Classic

With the John Haynes Classic just weeks away, the Live Stage is set to bring some of the biggest names and most knowledgeable voices in motoring together at Haynes Motor Museum on Sunday 6 September.

Throughout the day, motoring experts, engineers, journalists and automotive creators will share their knowledge, stories and experience in a series of talks and panel discussions taking place throughout the day.

The line-up includes Edd China, inventor, engineer, car builder and former Wheeler Dealers presenter; Iain Tyrrell, one of the world’s leading classic car experts; Danny Hopkins, editor of Practical Classics; and automotive engineer Ralph Hosier. Joining the main stage will also be automotive content creator Tiger Johnson, Practical Classics Workshop Editor Matt Tomkins and international karting driver Klara Kowalczyk.

The confirmed talks cover some fascinating corners of motoring history and engineering. Discover how the Austin 7 became Britain’s most adaptable car, from everyday transport to racing cars, trials vehicles and home-built specials. Explore why the Austin 7 continues to inspire builders today, with a closer look at the tools, techniques and challenges behind creating a special.

Main Stage at John Haynes Classic 2025

Talks will cover topics such as 60 years of the Lamborghini Miura, examining the design and engineering that made its mid-engine layout, styling and performance so revolutionary. Meanwhile, 70 Years of Historic Karting looks at how a simple form of motorsport grew into a global phenomenon.

With Chris Dawes, known as the voice of Castle Combe Circuit, hosting the stage, expect plenty of knowledge, stories and debate throughout the day.

The Live Stage is just one part of the John Haynes Classic Motor Show, alongside hundreds of cars and motorcycles, running vehicle displays, Classics Row, the Austin 7 Special Display, car and motorcycle clubs and the new Riders Motorcycle Zone.
