The Rise and Demise of Rover Cars: discover the story behind a British motoring icon
10th Sept 2026
Rover was once one of Britain’s best-known car marques, producing everything from refined saloons to some of the most recognisable British cars of their era. This September, Haynes Motor Museum is exploring the story of Rover in Enthusiast Talks: The Rise and Demise of Rover Cars.
Taking place every Thursday in September at 11:15am, the talks trace Rover’s journey from its early history through its development into a much-loved luxury brand, before turbulent mergers, partnerships and its eventual break-up brought the marque’s story to an end.
Along the way, you’ll hear about the cars, people and events that shaped Rover’s history, with the talk bringing the story to life through vehicles from the Haynes Motor Museum collection.
The talk also provides an opportunity to explore some of the Rovers in the Haynes Moter Museum collection, including the Rover SD1 Estate.
Whether you remember Rover from your own driving days, have an interest in British marques or simply want to understand more about the cars that shaped Britain's motoring landscape, the talk offers plenty to discuss.
The talk is included with Museum Entry and no booking is required. Simply turn up and join the talk.
