See Guy Martin’s Triumph Rocket Streamliner at Haynes Motor Museum
1st Apr 2026
If you have a need for speed, the ultimate engineering marvel has just arrived in Somerset. The Triumph Infor Rocket Streamliner—the very machine Guy Martin piloted to over 270 mph—is on display at Haynes Motor Museum.
This isn't just a motorcycle; it is a 1,000-horsepower testament to British grit and aerodynamic perfection. Whether you’re a die-hard petrolhead, a fan of Guy Martin’s TV exploits, or a STEM enthusiast, this exhibition offers a rare, up-close look at a vehicle designed to break the laws of physics.
The Quest for 400 MPH: Engineering the Impossible
In 2016, at the legendary Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, Triumph Motorcycles sought to reclaim their title as the "World’s Fastest Motorcycle." To do it, they built a carbon-Kevlar monocoque beast powered by two turbocharged Triumph Rocket III engines.
Key technical specs of the Triumph Streamliner:
Power: 1,000+ bhp @ 9,000 rpm.
Engine: Two 2.3-litre turbocharged Triumph Rocket III units.
Top Speed Reached: 274.2 mph (A Triumph brand record).
Fuel: Methanol.
While adverse weather on the salt flats halted the ultimate 400 mph attempt, the machine remains a pinnacle of modern motorcycle land-speed engineering.
The Talk of the Town: Exclusive April Enthusiast Sessions
While the Streamliner is a sight to behold on its own, the real magic lies in the story behind the speed. To celebrate its residency, we are hosting deep-dive Enthusiast Talks every week in April 2026.
Our expert volunteers will dive deep into the "Quest for Speed," exploring the mechanics behind the record attempt and what it’s really like to sit in the cockpit of a 270 mph machine.
When: Every Wednesday and Thursday throughout April at 11:15am and 2pm. These talks are included with your Museum entry!
